Lost Wax Casting

A six week intensive covering a range of casting techniques for jewelry fabrication. You will learn the art of lost wax casting. First cast a found object, then carve your own wax model and transform it into metal. You will leave with two casts of your own design.

Wire Wrapping

Organic Sculpture Techniques

Alginate is a derivative of seaweed. Alginate moulds are so precise that they can capture individual finger prints, hairs on the face or pores on the skin. This process is perfect for creating incredibly detailed and life-like replicas, and can be used in casting and mould making projects of nearly any scale.

Intermediate Enameling // Cloisonne, Champleve, Plique-a-Jour and Sgraffito

If you loved the quick and colorful process you learned in Intro to Enameling, up your game in Enameling II. In this single session class we'll demo 4 techniques, and each student we'll be able to make finished pieces incorporating at least two. Because students will be familiar with and approved to use the kiln, they can use our kilns outside of class to complete projects that they start during this single day workshop.

Intermediate Rhino 

Intermediate Rhino is a continuation of our first course, Introduction to Rhino. In this class, we will further investigate the tools and commands of Rhino through a series of increasingly more complex models in the first three classes. During the second half of the class, we will design our own jewelry, or other small objects, and prepare them for 3D printing and have the designs ready to ship by the end of the course!

Chasing & Repousse Workshop

Chasing & repousse is a method of shaping, drawing and sculpting with malleable metal to create images and textures in relief form by means of stamping and embossing. In this course we will cover the following techniques: contouring, low-relief chasing, high-relief chasing, and chasing on solid metal. We will be practicing on copper sheet and solid pewter, but students are welcome to supply their own material but keep in mind it must be relatively malleable, nothing harder than mild steel.

Intermediate Jewelry // Lockets, Hinges & Containers

If you've taken an Intro to Jewelry class and you're ready to expand your hand-building fabrication skills then this is the class for you. Students will embark on an intermediate level project, such as a locket, salt and pepper shakers or a hinged lidded container. In this four week class you'll learn many new skills for advanced fabrication, such as keyhole mechanisms, soldering hollow forms and building hinges by hand.
