WATCH THIS // Inside Design: The Reality of Living with Style

The designer contestants meet at 3rd WardReady, set, design. The challenge was simple, the time limit insane, and the prize amazing...

Create a room that exemplified humanism, creativity, and functionality. 24 hours to design. 24 hours to build. A $5,000 budget, half of which had to be used at IKEA. And the prize? All the furniture, a new Macbook, and our favorite -- an Unlimited Membership at 3rd Ward.

Four very talented and diverse NYC-area designers duked it out for the judges, including our very own Marketing Director, Jess.

Watch the design magic happen and the winning design come to life in a Manhattan loft in this 3-part webseries at Babelgum.com.

November 13: Catch TEDxBrooklyn @ Pratt Institute.

TEDxBrooklyn
Saturday November 13
Pratt Institute (Brooklyn Campus)
200 Willoughby Avenue
Brooklyn, NY

What does TED stand for? Technology, Entertainment, Design. But can we also get a “B” for “Badass”? These 18-minute-or-less talks are a true phenomenon that have brought the world together in a global pow-wow of “ideas worth spreading.”

For the first time ever, TED is coming to Brooklyn (we know, why didn’t it happen sooner?) this Saturday at Pratt. Some of the confirmed speakers at TEDxBrooklyn are street artist extraordinaire Swoon, NPR's Kurt Andersen, DJ Spooky, M.I.A.'s eco husband Ben Brofman, PBS' Nate Ball, Whitney Biennial writer Tracie Morris, along with a mind bending group of the most promising innovators.

The theme “One Moves Many,”  will focus on how the passions of transformational individuals can launch a movement, and how emerging technologies and merging communities can help shape and propel those movements.

Check out a video from TEDxBrooklyn below and click here to get your ticket.
