Slideluck Potshow is a unique and magical night that has toured over 40 cities around the world. This session, Slideluck is coming to our turf with an old-fashioned Chili cook-off and beers from Brooklyn Brewery.

Come break bread and spark an unexpected conversation. The evening begins with mingling, bluegrass from Morgan O'Kane and dining, then the lights dim, the crowd is hushed, and a spectacular and surprising slideshow commences.

This will be a zero-waste event thanks to Sustainable Party. Beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery.

Drop in and out, or do a marathon session for the whole 6 hours. As always, bring your drawing (or painting)tools, a friend or date, and some serious sketching stamina.

OPEN CALL for films // Moviehouse February 2011

Moviehouse celebrates their four year anniversary this February 13. And even though it’s their birthday, it’s you, the audience members, that get the gifts. They are challenging filmmakers and fans to make a 2-minute propaganda movie for Moviehouse.

How can you participate? It’s easy! Anyone is eligible to make a movie. In fact, first time filmmakers are especially encouraged to make one. The only rule is that your film should include 1 of these 4 simple elements:

1. Two pairs (i.e. a double date) OR
2. The four bases (either the actual baseball bases or their dating equivalents) OR
3. A distinct reference to one of the four directions or the four suits of a deck of cards OR
4. One of the four horsemen (Conquest, War, Famine, Death)

Your film will be screened along side those of Moviehouse staff and our favorite filmmakers. Finished films are due by February 7. Send a Quicktime file on a disc to Moviehouse at 3rd Ward, 195 Morgan Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11237 or via email to moviehousebk@gmail.com.

Even if you don’t make a film, stay tuned for more information on the anniversary celebration. There will be films, video performance and even a pinata!

The premiere of puppeteer Leat Klingman’s first featurette. More than a year in the making, Wolfy’s Journey shows of Klingman’s unique combination of live puppet theater and innovative camera work. It’s an unconventional musical of one puppet’s journey to self-discovery. Plus a new audience-driven movie from the FilmShop.

Come at 7pm and warm up with a whimsical cup of The Sisters Three coffee. Wolfy has embarked on a journey of self-discovery. “I want to eat the world!”- he says, but how is still undetermined; yet his mind is set out for an adventure. Joining Wolfy, we sail with him on what is to be an enchanting, musically, challenging and endearing path. Amongst the fanciful characters Wolfy meets on this path there is an Italian one-winged bird and a magical French dragon; much joy, words of wisdom and questionable tricks are to be presented throughout his journey, and Wolfy confronts them with his gentle yet curious way, with the help of a long lost friend. A rare moment, for those who are young at heart.
