Stop-Motion Animation
In this workshop, students will learn how to produce professional quality stop-motion films. After a brief overview of different examples and techniques used to create stop-motion projects, students will be shown the different elements of a stop-motion shoot with equipment that is affordable and easy to master. Students will work hands-on in small groups to execute an in-class project, going through all of the steps to complete an animated short.
Topics include:
• Preproduction: storyboarding, timing, armatures, sets and characters
• Production: camera setup, software, lighting, and animation techniques
• Post production: importing footage, adjusting timing, removing unwanted frames
The purpose of this class is to demystify the methods behind professional stop-motion production so students can realize their animation ambitions.
