Millinery Workshop // Free Form Hat Blocking

In this course students will learn to make one of a kind hats using the free form blocking technique. Felt is steamed and molded onto a balsa head block to create everything from 1920’s style cloches to your own avant garde creations. Let your creativity flow while you learn this interesting millinery technique.

Introduction to Millinery is a prerequisite for this class. Please email Learn@3rdward.com if you have previous hat making experience and would like to have the prerequisite waived.

Instructor
Cha Cha studied millinery under the tutelage of the highly regarded milliner, Anne Allbrizzio. After completing the millinery program at FIT she began designing for private clients. She later started collaborating with the East Village designer Mark Montano, with whom she created pieces for his seasonal fashion shows featured at Seventh on Sixth. In August of 2001 she opened her millinery design studio, Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute.  Combining Old World techniques, the inspiration of the 1920’s & 1930’s along with her own unique style, she has created a line for a new generation of hat enthusiasts.
