Introduction to Final Cut Pro

In this introductory class on Final Cut Pro, students will learn all the essentials of digital video editing. Students will learn how to take a project from start to finish, from basic cuts all the way to color correction and audio tweaking, and different formats for online and DVD distribution.

A full overview of the FCP interface and basic tool kit will be followed by lessons in logging and capturing, basic media management and workflow, three point editing, importing audio files, basic transitions, audio and video filters. Students are encouraged to bring their own video footage to edit with on mini-DV tape, DVD or hard drive, but the instructor will provide raw material for those who need it.

This class will take place in our Media Lab, equipped with fully-loaded iMac design workstations. Basic Macintosh computer literacy is required for this course.

Please note that this class is for Final Cut Pro 7, not Final Cut Pro X.
