Introduction to Drawing

Behind many great works of art, abstraction or realism, lies a strong drawing. Drawing is the bridge that connects seeing and conveying both form and space. It is the key towards understanding and translating an idea into a finished piece. Throughout the development of any artwork, the formal issues of drawing- line, tone, texture, and shape remain at the forefront. This class will cover fundamental aspects of the visual language of drawing including perspective, charcoal tonal drawing, mark making (line, hatching, cross-hatching, etc), still-life, portraiture, figure drawing with the model and much more.
