Join us for a night of art, science and technology with Stefani Bardin as we look at two of her latest multi-media projects.  First, we will look at M2A: The Fantastic Voyage, which examines the impact of technology on our food system using wireless gastroenterology devices to look at how processed foods versus whole food effect the body.

The second project Phantom Lim(b)inality uses phantom limb syndrome (and neuroplasticity) as a metaphor for examining the brain's ability to rewire itself based on the imaginings and re-imaginings of our relationship to a severed natural world (i.e. nature and the wilderness). In the same way the brain imagines a severed limb to still be present - so too does the contemporary brain try to imagine a severed connection to nature - via the somatic wilderness of the built environment, market culture and our relationship to the city.

Both of Bardin's projects look at the ways in which creative uses of technology and science can impact not only how we operate within the world but how we experience it.

Pan's vibrant work is a masterpiece of storytelling refracted through the artist's Taiwanese upbringing, his American schooling, and the world of his fertile imagination. These epic myth-meets-reality paintings captivated our judges with their beauty, detail, humor and intelligence. Now is your chance to experience them at 3rd Ward.  

Pan's Solo Show Grand Prize included traveling to Taiwan to be featured in an exclusive feature booth at Art Tapei. There he sold almost all of his featured work and gained the attention of art lovers from around the world.

Join us for a night of Pan's storytelling journey told with intricate watercolors and larger than life oil paintings. Plus, music and complimentary drinks.

Join us for a day of discussions, demonstrations and swapping with BK Swappers.  BK Swappers is a bimonthly Brooklyn-based larder swap and social gathering. It allows home cooks who bake, can, preserve, prepare, grow or forage food to trade the fruits of their labor for other delectable homemade foods. BK Swappers' events build community and empower people to turn their home food production from a hobby to a habit.

Throughout the day we'll have demos from 3rd Ward Class Instructors and talks by some of Brooklyn's best DIY food crafters, writers and small-business owners including Liza De Guia (food. curated.), Emily Hanhan (Nomnivorous), Anita Shepherd (Electric Blue Baking Co.), Jackie Gordon (Divalicious), Rich Awn (Mombucha), Liz Neves (Raganella), Debbie Koenig (Parents Need To Eat Too), Alex Crosier (GranolaLab), your swap hosts Jane Lerner and Meg Paska, and much more!

Kickstarter’s Director of Art Programs Stephanie Pereira leads off the evening with a presentation on how to bring your project to life. Whether you have a project in design, film, art, technology, music, food or publishing, you will learn how to structure a project, what kind of rewards work best, and other helpful tips and valuable stats.

We’ll take a more detailed look at the anatomy of a successful project with presentations from :
