Watch This Now: The David Lynch-directed Video For His Song "Crazy Clown Time"

Once you get over the fact that David Lynch is now a director and a musician, it's not that huge of a leap that his debut title track is called "Crazy Clown Time." From there it's just a hop, skip and a jump to an album Lynch describes as "intense psychotic backyard craziness fueled by beer." Lynch takes lead vocals, creaking out a song with laughably bad lyrics (sorry, David, you know we love you) and directing a video to match.

The video follows the song's narrative precisely, so when the protagonist yells, spits and spills beer, guess what? So does the guy in the video! When Lynch, wailing in a squeaky falsetto, sings of men lighting their hair on fire, women taking their tops off and everyone running around the yard like crazy drunken hillbillies, you don't have to wonder what that looks like--he shows you, making this one of the most literal videos ever produced.

Either way, there was no way we weren't going to share this.

Your Daily Insight // As Told By: David Lynch

When you're an artist, you pick up on certain things that are in the air. You just feel it. It's not like you're sitting down, thinking, "What can I do to really mess things up?" You're getting ideas, and then the ideas feed into a story, and the story takes shape. And if you're honest about it and you're thinking about characters and what they do, you now see that your ideas are about trouble. You're feeling more depth, and you're describing something that is going on in some way.

YOUR DAILY INSIGHT // As Told By: David Lynch

Ideas dictate everything. You have to be true to that or you're dead.

YOUR DAILY INSIGHT // As Told By: David Lynch

How has David Lynch, the master of the absurd and the champion of all things creative (did you know he has an album coming out this fall?) not yet appeared on Your Daily Insight?

All of that changes right now:

I have to make what I see, whether it's a painting, a table, or a movie--or it's like a death. And what would be the point of that?
