If you've visited our Staff Page, you've seen the photo of our founder Jeremy Lovitt with a panda. Joe from Crest Hardware saw it & also found us the photo we UNintentially copied of John Lenon. Check it out. Whose Panda do YOU think is hotter?
Star in-house photographer, Linda Gastaldello, has work in the Italian Magazine IO DONNA (a weekly insert in the national newspaper). The story is in Italian - for those of you who aren't fluent, it focuses on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in NYC and interviews young people who are uprooting their lives to return to traditional agricutlural lifestyles.
Check out her images in the story below.
Oh, we have news!
First, read our interview with Beekeepers Jon & Brandon from our Fall 2009 magazine.
Next, learn that NYC has FINALLY legalized beekeeping.
NOW! We are happy to announce that THOSE BEES kept by Jon & Brandon live on our roof! And, seriously? BEST HONEY EVER.
As a tribute to St. Patrick, Ireland, and the influx shamrocks in bar indows, our wonderful intern Jordana compiled a medley of the green you'll find here with us at 3rd Ward. (First up? Green Bikes, of course.)
(PS. Wanna know WHY it's green? We did & Wikipedia SO knows. HERE)
Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), in partnership with the MetroTech BID, seeks proposals from Brooklyn-based artists and collectives for artwork to be installed on construction fences on 3 sites in downtown Brooklyn. Proposed works should have strong visual impact and should be accessible and appropriate for the general public.
Artists are encouraged to create installations that fit within the context of the site and create a visual identity for the area. Applicants may apply for more than one site and are required to complete separate applications for each site. Three artists/collectives will be chosen, one artist/group for each site.
Chosen artists/collective will receive a $1,000 fee for honorarium. Each site includes a supply budget not to exceed $2,700. For more details and to apply visit: http://www.brooklynartscouncil.org/documents/1413.

This Wednesday, Dustyn Roberts shows you have to use Alibre Design as a tool to both conceptualize your design and enable digital fabrication of the parts.
Alibre Design is a unique program that has a lot of the advanced capabilities of the more expensive software packages, but in a free demo version. Their standard license, a big step up from the free version, is only $97.
If you would like to follow along with our demo, we invite you to bring a laptop with Alibre installed (the demo version is fine). Alibre only works on PCs or Macs running parallels or VMWare Fusion.
Date
Wednesday March 17th, 7:00PM - 9:00PM
Location
573 Metropolitan (btw Lorimer & Union), Brooklyn
RSVP HERE: http://www.3rdward.com/free-lecture-signup/
Instructor
Dustyn Roberts is a traditionally trained engineer with non-traditional ideas of how practical engineering can be taught. Ms. Roberts teaches at NYU’s Interactive Technology Program (ITP) and holds a BS in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University with minors in Robotics and Business and an MS in Biomechanics & Movement Science from the University of Delaware.
This Sunday, Moviehouse presents "What's Not There" (Doors 7 p, Films 8 p, 195 Morgan Avenue, Bklyn, NY, FREE).
Spend your evening with us, exploring what's real & what's only in your imagination with two films: Alexander Maxwell presents a modern day take on an old-school duel and David Mason presents a spooky look at a simple conversation.
Plus, enjoy tasty snacks and strong drinks to the smooth beats of DJ Clay Franklin.

Through April 30, 2010 our Unlimited Membership comes with a FREE MacBook. Cool, right?
But, what if you're all like "Oh, I have a computer." You know what you don't have?
- 100s of Free Classes
- A wood & metal shop in your house
- FOUR photo studios at your fingertips
- Hotties greeting you each morning & saying farewell every evening
- Free Bike (if you have one, give it to a friend. Then race each other.)
- all the free coffee you can drink from your reusable mug. Seriously. Think of what you can avoid by not going to a coffee shop: 1) small talk, 2) the run-ins with old flames while with a newer & maybe less hot hook-up, 3) the option to buy a pastry because you know you can't say no & $5 is a lot for a muffin.
The Free MacBook is pretty sweet- but the Unlimited Membership? Worth your weight in gold (and you've been eating a LOT of those $5 muffins). More Info HERE.
