International photographer Q. Sakamaki captures Within the Land of Ash

© Q. SakamakiSaturday night, thousands roamed the streets and warehouses of East Williamsburg to celebrate Halloween. Renowned photographer Q. Sakamaki was there to unravel its secrets and document the revelry.
Q. is a long time NYC resident who famously documented East Village & Lower East Side during the 1988 anti-gentrification riots. Through crisp editorial photography, he has also told the stories of Haitian refugees, Bengali sex workers and favela residents in Rio. We were honored to have Q. in attendance at Within the Land of Ash and bring you a special set of photos from the event.
