Grow your brain at 3rd Ward

With 3rd Ward's Education Program, Even You Can Invent the Square Watermelon.

A round watermelon can take up a lot of room in a refrigerator and often sits awkwardly on refrigerator shelves.

So smart Japanese Farmers have forced their watermelons to grow into a square shape! They insert the melons into square, tempered glass cases while the fruit is still growing on the vine.

Don't waste time, the pineapple's still round, sign up for one of our many classes here!

Chashama's Pirate Party Pig Roast at Water Taxi Beach

Our friends at Chashama would like to cordially invite you to this year's Pirate Party Pig Roast at Water Taxi Beach!

Hula hoop artists, jugglers, fire-breathers, acrobats, face-painters and vaudeville buskers provide for a rowdy evening of eating , drinking, laughing and dancing. In the fantastic ambiance of Long Island City’s own beachhead, guests can watch the sunset on Manhattan’s skyline, dance under the stars with mash up DJ Party Ben from San Francisco, enjoy the open bar and eat their fill of bar-b-que or vegan delights with our run-away pirate crew on our fantasy island. There's also the chance to bid on items ranging from restaurant certificates to high fashion bounty during our silent auction. In addition to the festivities, $100 prizes will be awarded to the top “Best Pirate Costume” in the children, male and female categories!

Enjoy all this for the low price of $20 (in advance, $30 day-of).
